Mr. Collins served as the President of the New York Mercantile Exchange (then the largest commodities exchange in the world) from 2001-2004. During that time, he led NYMEX to an initial S & P credit rating of A++, its recognition by Energy Risk magazine as the 2004 “Exchange of the Year” and its creation of Clearport Clearing, the first commercially successful OTC clearing platform. Mr. Collins also founded MotherRock: a $500,000,000 hedge fund specializing in energy derivatives trading, which closed in 2007. In 2008, in partnership with NASDAQ, Mr. Collins was also a founding partner in a new clearinghouse: the International Derivatives Clearing Group (IDCG), which was recently sold to LCH Clearnet.
Before leading NYMEX, Mr. Collins served as Senior Vice President at El Paso Merchant Energy, where he was the head derivatives trader in natural gas and led the trading team to earn more than $1,000,000,000 in annual revenue. He has also served as an options market maker on the trading floor at NYMEX and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Mr. Collins has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
